There’s a new Karoo for 2022, and it is ready to take on off-road adventures. The Metzeler Karoo 4 ADV tire features a big block tread pattern with space between the blocks for off-road traction. Replacing the Karoo 3, the new Karoo 4 positions itself between the pavement-oriented Karoo Street and the seriously off-road Karoo Extreme.
Like its predecessor, the Karoo 4 is made for adventure and dual sport riders who want good off-road performance and longevity in a 50/50 tire. The new rubber sits in between the Karoo Street and Karoo Extreme in Metzeler’s dual sport tire lineup. In developing the new rubber, Metzeler states they relied on their “cutting-edge technologies and processes” to expand the Karoo’s versatility on the dirt/street spectrum even more.
Avon Tires has launched the latest addition to its motorcycle range: Avon 3D SUPERSPORT, a hypersport tire developed on track and on the road to offer motorcyclists exceptional grip, handling and stability.
Three key technologies constitute the hypersport references of 3D SUPERSPORT. The tire’s advanced profile design generates extended grip by improving its contact with the road. This is achieved by an all-new tread pattern with an increased ‘land-to-sea’ ratio, which means a larger tire footprint and smaller tread pattern compared to the predecessor.
3D SUPERSPORT’s track-developed construction optimises handling, stability and feedback for the rider by bringing a sense of the race track to the road. While the tyre is designed for riders who predominantly ride on the road, Avon Tyres’ development team has carried out extensive on-track testing to ensure that 3D SUPERSPORT delivers thrilling and reliable performance when riders do take it on a track day.
3D SUPERSPORT has been launched in six sizes: one front and five rear. These include two rear sizes that are brand new to Avon Tyres in the hypersport segment (180/60ZR17 and 200/55ZR17) ensuring fitments for a wide range of sports and superbikes.
The new Michelin Road 6 hoops will arrive in 18 sizes including a GT variant for heavy weight touring and sports motorcycles

15% more grip than the MICHELIN Road 5 tire in wet conditions thanks to 100% MICHELIN Silica Technology tread compounds and a new tread pattern featuring MICHELIN Water Evergrip Technology. The MICHELIN Road 6 tire delivers 10% longer tread life compared to the previous generation. The MICHELIN Road 6 tire typifies two decades of ongoing innovations and MICHELIN Technologies from our highest level of expertise. MICHELIN 2CT+ Technology, which has been standard on the rear tire, is now applied to the front tire for better rigidity at lean, and more stability when cornering, especially under strong acceleration or heavy braking, compared to the previous generation.

Dunlop has announced they will launch a fourth new tyre in their hypersport portfolio in March 2018. The Dunlop SportSmart TT has been developed to meet the needs of riders with the very latest sports bikes and performance roadsters who want to use the same tyre on track and for road riding.
The name SportSmart TT derives from Dunlop’s road focused SportSmart range and adds the letters TT, which refer to “Track Technology”.
The launch of the SportSmart TT marks Dunlop’s comeback to a segment of the market where they last competed with the renowned Qualifier RR over a decade ago.
The Road 5 will vary from the Pilot Road 4 series in a number of ways, but most specifically in its ability to shed water from the tyre and road surface as the tyre wears. Thanks to the XST siping technology that Michelin introduced with the Pilot Road 3, the tires have a great ability to evacuate water from the tire surface ensuring the rubber connects to the road. As the tire wears down, the grooves in the tyres decrease in volume and thus are less effective in evacuating water.
The new Road 5 sipes, now called XST Evo, has been adapted from Michelin’s automotive division. The technology is borrowed from Michelin’s Evergrip tread design which was first introduced in the MICHELIN Premier A/S tyre in 2014.
The combination of three technologies helped the MICHELIN ROAD 5 to deliver the best wet-weather grip in a recent in-house comparison with the new tyre’s five main rivals.
To achieve this level of performance, the MICHELIN ROAD 5 benefits from:
Latest-generation rubber compounds,
Dual-compound technology (MICHELIN 2CT and MICHELIN 2CT+ Technology),
The Spirit ST is an evolution of the current Storm 3D X-M, which will stay in the British firm’s line-up as a budget option. The new rubber comes in a variety of sizes to suit everything from middleweight nakeds, through to retros, sports tourers, superbikes and adventure bikes. Unlike many of Avon’s rivals, who produce a dual ply rear version for heavier touring bikes, the Spirit ST comes in just one version to covers the whole spectrum of machines.
Highly loaded silica compound combined with state of the art polymer technology for excellent wet and dry traction and handling
Interlocking three dimensional points hidden in the sipes to improve stability and grip, limit tread flex and allow the tyre to warm up quickly (3D Sipes)
Avon’s latest technology construction design gives ultra high performance handling and stability characteristics
Multi-compound rear tyres for all round tyre performance (TE)
Covered by road hazard warranty (only available in UK and North America)
