Pirelli SCORPION XC Mid Hard / Mid Soft – cross-country tyres for different ground conditions
The SCORPION XC Mid Soft and Mid Hard are performance-focused enduro and cross-country tyres developed for traction, accurate control and predictable behaviour off road. The Mid Soft targets soft to medium ground, while the Mid Hard is intended for medium-hard, hard, stony and rocky terrain.
- The XC Mid Soft suits mud, sand, soil and gravel on soft to medium cross-country routes, including courses with jumps, vegetation and changing terrain.
- Its front tyre uses small, relatively rigid blocks to improve steering accuracy and give clear feedback about available grip.
- This Mid Soft rear tyre places its blocks in a V formation to support stability during acceleration and braking.
- A polyester carcass deforms in a controlled way to create a broad, even footprint, transferring traction and braking force effectively to the ground.
- The XC Mid Hard is the better option as terrain becomes firmer, rockier or more abrasive. Pirelli specifies it for medium-hard and hard ground, cross-country events and desert racing.
- It is therefore suited to dry, compacted tracks, rock sections, loose stones and severe passages where a soft-terrain construction may reach its limits sooner.
- The Mid Hard uses a stiffer carcass for greater braking stability and precision, together with improved resistance to impact damage from rocks and other obstacles.
