Metzeler Karoo 4 (M+S) – dual-sport and enduro tyre
The Karoo 4 develops the Karoo 3 concept for adventure and maxi-enduro motorcycles. With an estimated 50% road and 50% off-road split, it is designed for journeys that mix tarmac with demanding trails.
- Optimised tread: A patented block arrangement reduces noise and promotes smooth running. Transverse blocks generate off-road drive while retaining road stability.
- Off-road ability: Scoop-shaped blocks bite into soft ground, and their shape helps the tread self-clean while preserving traction at different lean angles and on firmer terrain.
- Road handling: A stiffer carcass and multi-radius profiles improve corner grip and control, including when the motorcycle is loaded.
- Wet performance: The pattern is designed for heavy rain, low temperatures and difficult roads; internal testing placed the Karoo 4 at the front of its category for wet braking.
A versatile option for adventure touring across widely changing terrain.
Depending on size and vehicle approval, examples include BMW R 1250 GS, KTM 1290 Super Adventure R and Honda Africa Twin.
