Metzeler Sportec 01 RS – hypersport tyre with racing DNA
The Sportec 01 RS is the most aggressive member of the new Sportec 01 family. Fully road approved, it serves riders seeking uncompromising grip, high-speed stability and detailed feedback on sporting roads and at occasional track days. Its circuit character is balanced with the practical road behaviour needed between more demanding sessions.
- Dynatread™ adaptive tread closes its grooves dynamically under hard acceleration, heavy braking and deep lean. This enlarges the working footprint precisely when loads rise, adding traction, stability and accuracy on winding country roads and circuits. At less demanding road speeds, the pattern continues to provide the usability expected from a homologated tyre.
- A thoroughly revised structure combines modern materials with an optimised carcass. The result is a direct connection to the road, composed high-speed behaviour and clear communication at lean. Heavy braking and rapid direction changes remain controlled, helping the rider place the motorcycle accurately.
- K2 Carbon Black compound from racing applications covers the shoulder areas of both front and rear tyres. It generates very high grip under deep lean and hard acceleration. Special underlying layers reduce warm-up time and help the compound retain a stable operating temperature during repeated intensive use.
- Shorter, shallower shoulder grooves are arranged in opposing directions to increase rubber-to-road contact. The expanded shoulder area strengthens dry corner grip and creates an almost slick-like feel, yet the Sportec 01 RS remains road approved and suitable for normal paved-road journeys.
