Metzeler Sportec 01 – supersport tyre for sporting road riders
The Sportec 01 combines agile handling with everyday usability. It offers stability, accurate steering and dependable wet- and dry-road grip for dynamic country roads, relaxed tours and sporting cruising.
- Dynatread™ adaptive tread, derived from the ROADTEC 02, closes its grooves under strong acceleration, braking or lean to enlarge the contact patch. Under lighter loads, the grooves stay open for water clearance, rapid warm-up and comfort.
- A new high-silica compound retains grip in cold and wet conditions without giving up dry performance. Firmer central rubber and softer shoulders balance mileage, even wear and corner traction.
- The construction is tuned to current supersport and naked bikes. The front uses two rayon plies and a 0-degree steel belt for braking and steering accuracy; the rear also has a 0-degree belt, configured for corner-exit drive.
- Matching front and rear pattern geometry produces balanced, predictable handling. Improved drainage adds confidence in rain, while direct front-wheel feedback supports riding on winding roads.
Depending on tyre size and vehicle approval, examples include Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900, BMW S1000R, Honda CB1000R, Suzuki GSX-S1000 and KTM Duke 890.
