Bridgestone Battlax S21 (U) – hypersport tyre
The premium S21 is built for supersport and naked motorcycles used on winding roads and at occasional track days, combining precise handling, grip and improved mileage.
- 3-Layer Compound (3LC): Matching front sizes use a firm centre and softer shoulders across three zones.
- 5-Layer Compound (5LC): This rear tyre uses three compounds across five zones for centre durability, mid-lean grip and edge traction.
- Mono Spiral Belt (MSB): Lightweight wound cords provide consistent feel, damping, rotational stability and high-speed control.
- Increased mileage: Compound and tread changes give 36% more mileage than the S20 EVO.
The S21 offers sporting riders stable feedback on roads and during occasional circuit sessions.
On this rear tyre, the 5LC arrangement places the hardest compound through the centre for straight-line stability and mileage. Intermediate shoulder rubber supports traction at moderate lean, while very soft outer zones provide grip at deeper angles. The S21 range’s corresponding front tyre uses 3LC technology, combining two compounds across three zones for braking stability and progressive steering. MSB cords are wound around the circumference to reduce unnecessary mass, manage deformation and give an even response as speed rises. These features allow the tyre to balance everyday road durability with the grip and feedback needed for more committed cornering and occasional track sessions.
This special “U” specification and size were developed for the BMW F 900 R, 4R90, 900. It may also suit other motorcycles where approved.
