Bridgestone Battlax S22 (J) – hypersport tyre
The S22 is a premium sport tyre for demanding roads and occasional track days, combining stability, grip and wet capability.
- Wet traction: Higher-silica compounds improve wet grip by 5% over the S21.
- Cornering performance: Revised construction enables up to 15% higher speed through dry bends.
- 3LC and 5LC: Front sizes use 3LC; this rear uses 5LC with three compounds matched to upright and leaned riding.
- Mono Spiral Belt (MSB): Promotes even pressure, high-speed stability and clear feedback.
The S22 gives supersport and naked-bike riders precise response on winding roads and during occasional track use.
This rear tyre uses the 5LC layout to divide the tread into working zones. A durable compound through the centre supports straight-line stability and mileage, intermediate rubber manages moderate lean, and the outer shoulder areas provide stronger grip as cornering angle increases. Corresponding front sizes use 3LC technology to balance braking stability with progressive steering. MSB construction helps distribute forces evenly and limits unnecessary carcass movement, giving the rider clearer feedback through acceleration, braking and rapid direction changes. Together, these technologies allow the S22 to retain everyday road usability while coping with a faster pace on dry bends and occasional circuit sessions.
This special “J” specification and size were developed for the BMW S 1000 R, 2R99, 1000. It may also suit other motorcycles where approved.
